Starting this fall, all Fullerton College students will have access to free unlimited OCTA bus rides on all Orange County Bus local fixed routes. Students may either download the OC Bus mobile app on their smartphone or activate their student ID card to use as a bus pass.

The service becomes available on Aug. 26, which is the first day of the fall semester. Students will then receive an email from OCTA with credentials to install the app. Students who prefer to use their college I.D. card as their bus pass, may activate their cards in the Student Center in Building 200, Room 214.

A fun, public kickoff event for the program will be Thursday, Sept. 12 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the quad. The new Fullerton College/OCTA bus will be on display and light refreshments will be served.

The following information provides all the details to help students get started.

How does it work?

When you board a bus, scan the pass on your smartphone or swipe your student ID.

When does it expire?

For mobile app users, OC Bus app passes renew each semester upon enrollment. Students must maintain enrolled status to maintain eligibility for the program. For non-mobile app users, Student IDs must be reactivated each semester to be valid as a bus pass. Fall Student IDs expire as a bus pass in February; Spring IDs expire in August. All bus passes are non-transferrable.

Who is eligible?

Fullerton College full and part-time students with an activated student ID.

Who pays for it?

Starting with the fall 2019 semester, the first year of this 3-year pilot program will be funded by the Low Carbon Transit Operations Program (LCTOP), a part of the Cap-and-Trade Program and the Mobile Source Air Pollution Review Committee (MSRC). During the second and third years (fall 2020 – summer 2022), fees approved by Fullerton College students in April 2019 will pay for the program.
